About Lisa Shaughnessy

Lisa Shaughnessy_Dec 2013Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I know that people like to do business with those they know, like, and trust, so I’m going to tell you a bit about me. I’m a marketing, communications and customer engagement professional who helps small businesses maximize their limited time by creating easy to follow workflows and processes.

I know, from working with small business owners just like you, that a business won’t grow to its full potential without processes in place. I have over 20 years experience creating and implementing processes and workflows for government agencies, corporate offices, and small businesses (including many solopreneurs).

I quit my federal government job in January 2012 to start my own business helping fitness professionals with their social media marketing. I was tired of the lack of creativity and the inability of management to understand how powerful social technologies can be to a large world wide organization.

When I decided to shift gears in August 2013 and help more small businesses, I partnered with Lisa Karl to form Savvy Digital Business. Our mission was to help small business owners manage their social media through our online courses. Unfortunately due to personal circumstances I had to find a full time position in February 2015 and leave SDB in November 2015.

I was a Customer Success Manager for a small tech firm in Arlington, VA and loved working with my customers and helping them build successful eCommerce businesses. But, I was ready to get back to working for myself so I ramped up my side hustle process and workflow business to help small businesses on a full time basis.

As a speaker I present on small business, social media, and marketing topics to help small businesses use their online presence effectively to reach their ideal customer. I’ve done solo speaking engagements as well as with Lisa Karl while we were partners at SDB.

I’m the author of several books on small business and marketing topics, including The New Rules of Fitness Marketing: How to Build a Successful Business Even if You Hate SellingThe Fitness Professional’s Complete Guide to Online Training, and Communication. Balance. Goals: Discover the Keys to a Successful Women-Only Business Partnership.

From January to December of 2013 I taught a monthly social media seminar at the Community Business Partnership, a non-profit that helps small businesses.

I’m an active member of Femworking, a fabulous organization for women business owners. For the past two years I have also been their Director of Leadership.

Other places I like to be are at my favorite fitness studio, playing golf, traveling and having way too much fun with my husband Rob, son Kevin extended family, and friends.

One of my greatest personal achievements was hitting my deadlift 1RM of 300 lbs on Aug 14, 2012! If you have any interest here’s the video:
